Natural Treatment for Insomnia

Lifestyle Healing Institute® utilizes inevitable subjective qualities from testing of over 100 biomarkers with our All-Natural method and protocols, to successfully correlate each bodily system with one another, quantitatively. This leads to easily discernible patterns among individuals with similar disorders.

As with fibromyalgia and anxiety, insomnia is an issue of an overactive brain profile which is verified from biomarker testing of neurotransmitters, amino acids, hormones, and more. Sleep is one of the most crucial aspects of healing and we believe if you correct the night, you correct the day.

Insomnia is accompanied by other disorders such as anxiety and especially hormonal imbalance.

There are numerous chemicals in the brain that require adequate levels of both male and female hormones to establish sufficient levels of brain chemicals. This is especially apparent in women during peri-menopause and menopause when their sex hormones, progesterone and estradiol, begin to shut down.

This disrupts the natural harmony in a woman’s brain, as progesterone calms the brain and estradiol primarily stimulates the brain. These changes in the hormonal system can lead to self-medication disorders involving Alcohol, Xanax, Ambien, and others.

Additionally, estradiol is vital in the dynamic balance of bone remodeling. Without adequate estradiol, bone breaks down at an alarming rate, eventually resulting in additional ailments such as osteopenia, osteoporosis, and kidney stones. Physicians fail to realize that these disruptions can occur in toxin-induced individuals, even without undergoing menopause or other aging processes. More information can be found on the Hormonal Imbalance Page.

insomnia1Symptoms of overactive disorders such as Fibromyalgia, Anxiety and Chronic Migraines overlap because of the strong objective similarities of an overactive brain.

Although much more severe, insomnia is a matter of sleep abnormalities which are usually two main issues – falling asleep and staying asleep.

The brain has various regions of interest that are both overactive and underactive and insomnia is no exception. See Brain Chemistry and Brain Chemistry Treatment for more details. Below are symptoms closely related with insomnia.

Quantitative and Objective Symptoms of Anxiety

  • Excess Excitatory Neurotransmitters
  • Suppressed Inhibitory (Calming) Neurotransmitters
  • Overactive Anterior Cingulate Gyrus (conflict, rational cognitive center of brain)
  • Overactive Deep Limbic System (emotional center of brain)
  • Suppressed Magnesium
  • Autoimmunity
  • Dysregulations in Blood Flow
  • Suppressed Potassium
  • Suppressed Hormones – Especially Sex Hormones

Subjective Symptoms of Insomnia

  • Ensure their Car/House is Locked (even though they usually know it is)
  • Brain/Body on Two Separate Pages
  • Brain is on Fire – Mind Races, Difficulty Shutting Down
  • Difficulty Falling Asleep – ranges from 30 min to hours
  • Difficulty Staying Asleep – lack of restful sleep – short deep sleep cycling
  • Daytime Exhaustion – can manifest into CFS
  • Overlapping Symptoms of Overactive Disorders

Difficulty falling asleep, or shutting the brain off, is an issue primarily resolved by resetting and restoring the brain’s electrical activity (see The Method Page.) As disturbances begin to upset the brain’s dynamic balance, excitatory neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) begin to elevate. In response to the elevation, the brain will increase its production of calming neurotransmitters in an attempt to correct the increase in voltage.

This causes both calming chemicals and excitatory chemicals to elevate simultaneously which results in the initial stage of sleep disorders – difficulty falling asleep. As the disturbance remains, the excitatory chemicals remain elevated and consequently cause your calming chemicals to become exhausted; resulting in difficulty staying asleep.

insomnia2This is the natural progression of any disturbance which causes an alarming amount of damage to the brain. Elevated excitatory chemicals, especially glutamate, causes brain cell (neuron) death which is known as excitotoxicity, or toxicity caused by too much electricity.

We focus on these mechanisms as we bring your body back to dynamic equilibrium in an efficient and safe manner by healing neurological symptoms without prescription medications. Any disturbance reveals itself through our extensive 100 plus biomarker testing consisting of neurotransmitters, amino acids, hormones, and much more.
